Anthropic has again extended free access to its Claude Fable 5 model for paid subscribers, moving the cutoff date to July 19, 2026 at 11:59:59 PM PT. The extension marks the second delay to a deadline that was originally set for July 7 and had already been pushed once to July 12.

According to a support document from Anthropic, the company confirmed the new date along with an accompanying change: “The 50% increase to Claude Code weekly usage limits has also been extended through the same date.”

What the Extension Covers

Under the promotion, subscribers can use Fable 5 for up to 50% of their weekly subscription limits at no additional cost. The offer requires no manual activation or claim process. Fable 5 usage draws from the same weekly pool as other Claude models, though Anthropic notes it consumes that pool faster than other models in the lineup.

The extended terms apply to Claude Pro, Max, Team, and premium seats on seat-based Enterprise plans where the organization has enabled the feature. Fable 5 is accessible across Claude on the web, Claude Mobile, Claude Desktop, Claude Cowork, Claude Code, Claude Design, Claude for Microsoft 365, Claude for Teams, and Claude Tag.

  • Web, desktop, and mobile users can select Fable 5 directly from the model picker.
  • Claude Code requires version 2.1.170 or later to access the model.
  • Claude Cowork requires the latest Claude Desktop app.

The promotion does not extend to Free users, standard seats on seat-based Enterprise plans, usage-based Enterprise plans, or API usage.

What Happens After the Weekly Allowance Is Used

Once a subscriber exhausts the 50% weekly Fable 5 allowance, two options remain: continue using Fable 5 by drawing on separately billed usage credits, or switch to another Claude model to continue working within the plan’s remaining standard limits.

Anthropic has also clarified that Fable 5 is not being permanently removed from paid subscriptions. The company says it plans to restore full inclusion of the model once sufficient compute capacity becomes available, though no firm date has been given for that restoration.
